Hennock was inspired by my eldest daughter whilst sat on the platform of Staverton Station in Devon.
In an effort to get away from Ready to Run I chose 3mm scale to model this layout having previously exhibited a large Tri-ang TT layout. I hope the ramblings that all to frequently appear will be of use to you no matter what scale!
The track diagram shows a simple passing station with a couple of sidings. All track is PECO Hom-12mm gauge with turnouts operated by the wire in tube method. Control is provided by Gaugemaster HH with feedback.
Locos are mostly whitemetal kits running on etched chassis powered by Mashima 9/16 motors with Branchlines 40:1 gearboxes. Wheels are Markits with the latest 3mm Society products being introduced.
Coaches consist of Society 'B' Sets and coaches from etches by Worsley Works, Brynkits and 3SMR. A vast range of wagons are from the 3mm Society list with Finney and Smith providing the China Clay , Gunpowder and a few etched kits.
Hennock has appeared in Railway Modeller and Model Rail.
Please visit the links to the left - 3mm is the Premier Scale for modellers-

Worsley Bulleid Brake 3rd- Second Build.

The sides are bent up and tack soldered- this is the piece that the body sides are located around.
The solebar still attached to the etch- The third pip from each end had to be removed due to it fouling the fold up braces.
The solebar secured in place- usually I tack each end then when happy with squareness solder the rest of the pips.

The trusses have now been folded down and secured to the solebars- note that it was necessary on this coach only to release the ends and solder them on- not still attached to the fold- for some reason they wer bowed if still left attached.

GWR Platform Seats.

This excellent etch produces some very delicate
platform seats. Etched in brass that has been coated removing the necessity to prime before painting.
It's just a matter of separating the pieces from the etch and sticking together-well nearly!
The instructions advise that the parts should be stuck together with superglue- I agree.
The most fiddly bit is securing the frames- I used Blue-Tack as shown.apply glue and sit as shown- allow to dry and then attach the seat back.
All ready now for paint- will be light stone.

Hopefully, and all being well, Teignford, along with seven other layouts, will be at The Memorial Hall, Wootton Bassett, SN4 8EN , between 10.30 and 16.30 tomorrow 28th September 2013.
Regrettably Because of family bereavement Teignford has been withdrawn.

Worsley Works Bulleid Semi-open Brake Third-Dia 2123.

This coach has been under construction for some time of inactivity!
The roof has been cut to length and secured in place with Evo-stick whilst still wet.
I have some reservations on the way that I have assembled this kit- it just seemed that I was going about it wrongly.
Still- this one is ready for end steps and roof furniture- if I can find some vents which are similar to the drawings kindly given to me by Peter Bossum.
The next one will be assembled differently with the flat ends attached to the sides before fitting the etched bow ends.

Kitmaster Mk 1 Couplings.

As these three will run in a fixed rake, there is no need to provide uncoupling betwwen coaches- only the outer ends.
It needed something simple and this is what I have come up with.
A dressmakers brass pin is soldered to the loop and bent through 90 degrees. The upright on the loop prevents buffer lock and anyway these will only be pulled not pushed through reverse curves.
Simples!

Somerset and Dorset come's to Teignford.

John O'Dell kindly provided a S&D flavour to Teignford at the Blandford Museum's Somerset and Dorset Joint Railway 150th Anniversary Exhibition celebrating the opening of the railway from Blandford to Templecombe..
Such a busy weekend with much to se, I only took a few shots of John's locos posed on Teignford.
The lighting was poor so please excuse the poor images.
To the left is the icon of the S&D the 7F.
Spaceship 92203 poses by the cattle dock.

I really didn't want to give this back! A lovely 0-4-0 Pug seen sometime on the S&D. I really want one of these! It ran superbly.

Bullied 34107, Blandford Forum also put in an appearance- and also had it's picture taken with its big brothers nameplate.

Nigel Cullimores St. Agnes.

Took these at our recent Group meeting and am pleased to show them as an excellent example of 3mm modelling.
I will bang on, in later posts about the stock but for now enjoy these pictures.
The Goods Shed- card shell with plastic stone cladding.

The Stationmasters house- the original was brick built.

The Station forecourt.

Just a picture that captures St.Agnes perfectly.

Yeoman Models GWR Seats.

Please excuse the images to day- I have taken them from a well known auction site and they are not the best I have reproduced. I must speak to Nathan as
I need several of them for Teignford. I have an aversion to Paypal- long story- so I must see if I can send him a cheque instead-also I cant move the images so it is a bit disjointed- still its the product that is important and a very useful one at that. There are two distinct types which I think you can just make out the differences. So visit the auction site and make use of these useful pieces.Great Western Railway Benches (Type B) 1:100 TT scale Flames of War compatible

I want to ride my bicycle!

These little beauties took about a couple of hours to make.
They are an etch that is available from Branchlines and are of two types.
There is four gent's cycles on one etch and the other contains two for ladies.
One of the ladies cycles has a child seat which really tried my patience and even now isn't right. Try getting heated on Blue-tac off something folded up and a couple of millimeters square- that took longer than making the bike!
Still have to clean them up and paint them.

Hennock at Warley.

Pleasantly surprised that Hennock is mentioned on the Warley Facebook site in the last few days-looking forward to the exhibition.
Posts will be every couple of days or so for the next few weeks due to an excess of work-a horrible condition- so please be patient. Hopefully flights will be on time to fulfill exhibition commitments- contingency plans have been made!

Dorset Group September Meeting-2.

Unusually the post starts of with some 'O' Gauge.
The coach, together with three others, was successfully bid on the day of our meeting at Cottees Auction in Wareham. These are Lima based with- apparently- PC self coloured sides.
The Lima wagon is one ebing weathered by Robert.
Back to 3mm- Peter is building wagons to 14.2mm gauge and a couple of pictures showing how far he has progressed

Worsley Works 6 Wheeler.

The cab has been glued to the chassis and the axles located. the only thing missing in this picture is the fuel tank for which the mounting spigot can be seen on the lower chassis edge about halfway along.
The lower shot shows it all ready for the paint shop.
A good blast of primer should show up any glaring gaps. The I need to decide on the livery, can't decide wether this will be a railway company vehicle or something else.
Decisions-Decisions!

Dorset Group Meeting September 2013

Both Teignford and St.Agnes had shakedown sessions at this months meeting.
St.Agnes, Nigel Cullimores excellent rendition of the prototype is appearing at the Gillingham, Dorset show next weekend.
Teignford is at the Blandford Museums S&DJR 150th 'do' in Blandford the following weekend. Then both are at 3mm Scale Westfest in Wootten Bassett on the last Saturday in September.
