2015 3MM Society AGM

Next  Saturday marks the 50th Anniversary of the 3mm Society- the AGM is being  held in Swindon- Be there!

Ex-LSWR 700.

Shown on John Batemans layout, Wadebridge was this excellent model of an ex-LSWR 700 class loco, 30697.
This is quite convenient because I aquired a kit of this type from Worsley Works.
Supplied as an etch, it is up to me to source the castings, motor, gearbox and wheels .
The wheels are those obtainable from Peter White, castings from John Bateman and the Society shop.
I struck lucky in buying a couple of Mashima 9/16 motors from Secondhand Sales and most of  the items needed to complete the model. No boiler is supplied with this 'Scratch Aid Kit' but brass tube is readily available.

Wessex 3MM Meeting 2013.

 Attending this year was John Bateman and his 14.2mm gauge layout Wadebridge.
This is really a labour of love . A scale model of the ex-LSWR station has been faithfully recreated with many fine examples of brass loco's.
Shown also is an example of Bulleid stock. This picture also shows the quality of track building evident on this large layout.
Whist still under construction, the buildings are reminiscent of the prototype.

3MM Society Wessex Meeting 2013.

The 3mm Society Wessex meet held near Salisbury had a good attendance in relation to other years.
Photos show members busy at the various stands. The Secondhand Sales had many new items, especially flat pack brass kits.
It really is like a meeting of friends, updating ideas and just catching up.
Some had travelled a considerable distance, maqny car sharing which has to be a good thing considering the increases in costs recently.
In the next few posts I will expand on those attending in more detail.

3MM Society West Byfleet 2012

 Mostly pictures today.
There was an increase of the number of members that attended this year- I took most of these pictures at lunchtime when most were enjoying the great catering.
A full set of Society Shops were present together with Worsley Works, Finney & Smith and 3SMR our loyal traders.
There just seem's to be more and more available in the scale and modern technology seems to be creeping in.
Andy Shillito's Wantage Tramway and Hennock were put through their paces with a fair few visiting locos and pieces of rolling stock.
All stalls seemed happy with their day so a successful meeting - who can identify themselves? I'll kick off- I know the camel on Hennock

3mm Society AGM 2011

After a 300 mile round trip I am back from this years AGM. All of the specialist traders were there plus the Societys Shop and S/H Sales.This years venue, a Methodist Church in Market Harborough, was vey spacious and even had a lift for wheelchair users as it is designed on two levels. The competitions this yaer were really excellent with some worthy winners of the various trophies. The business meeting took just over the hour leaving just enough time for those last minute purchases.
I have decided to motorise the Hymek with a Society chassis kit.This as can be seen is a large etch with various gears, nuts & bolts  and pcb for pick ups. All I have to do is select a drive option and motor of choice. This comes with eight pages of instructions and step by step photos. There is more on the 3mm members site to aid the maker.
So that is my next to do-will try and remember to photograph the construction.
Also managed to get another fo Worsley Works delightful Morris Commercial Vans, must remember to put the glazing in before I fix the roof on this one.

Mixed Traffic April 2011

Just as I start my holiday the latest edition of the 3mm Society Magazine drops through the letterbox.
This august publication is the lifeline of the society.
Included in this quarters tome are articles by various members including-
Ambleside Junction, a large tailchaser in 13.5mm gauge.
A Shocvan conversion.
Further revelations on Resin Casting.
Adaptation of a Tri-ang footbridge .
Mods to the Mica kit.
Plus pics of award winning locos and rolling stock.

All in all yet another balanced edition and worth the sub's alone.
