The Cullibo hits the streets.

 Announced for release and delivery on the 1st April is a new product.
Specifically made for driving a single  Railcar, it utilises a Mashima 10/16 motor, High Level Gearbox and rolling stock axles all cobbled together in an etched brass coach bogie frame.
Limited to a hundred, punters will have to wait till the 1st April to buy!

Kitmaster Bogie fitting.

Not a lot of time lately so just bits and pieces at the moment-please bear with me.
The bogies need to be fitted and rather than use the Kitmaster pegs, I decided to screw fit them.
The holes are just the right size to screw a BA threaded shaft into the pivot. This will make fitting, and, if needed, removal of the bogie much easier.
So after creating a thread it is easy to screw the bogies on.
One warning-if you are using the steel weight supplied- don't screw too far in!

Coach Bogies.

 Sorry but the photos today are not as focused as I would like-my apologies!
You may remember a couple of posts ago my mention of the old 'bullet ended ' axles.
Well, to save some money the CK has Kitmaster bogies with these wheels inserted. I found the wheels, unless insulated on the outer face of the wheel, shorted on brass etched frames. So this is where some recycling came in and used ,probably, 50 year old plastic mouldings instead.
Do they roll well? Ok for my needs.

Helping Hands.

This piece of equipment is often overlooked- I know!
Helping Hands have been around for ,what seems, ever.
Here it is being used to hold a coach bogie fret whilst the couplings are attached.
These bogies will be part of the current topics about coach building- hopefully spuring you on to try your hand.

Bogie Side Frames.

These bogie side frames are the 3mm Society CBR126 and come in two pieces. Holes have to opened up as shown by the drill bit in the R/H picture- these accomodate the uprights on the centre springs. The axle spacings are marked and need opening up- I did it in a couple of stages but still managed to drill through the axle boxes! Then its a matter of glueing them onto the bogie frame- I did have to choose the one that I mucked the holes up on for the photo-Ah well you get the idea I hope.

Brynkits Bogie Frames.

 At Westfest 2012 I bought a couple of packets of Brians latest Coach Bogie Frames.
These- Kit 3CB.255- are etched brass and come complete with brass pinpoint bearings.
Some of an unknown parentage that I had previously used were prone to splying outwards once the wheels were fitted, due I would think to the frame not being wide enough.
The bearings are easily soldered into place with no work needed. Then simply fold up, soldering at joints as you go adding wheels before the final side is secured- Recommended and the easiest to make so far!

Brynkits Etched Bogie Frames.

Bogie frames have been a source of frustration for some time. OK, we have the excellent compensated offerings from the 3mm Society but that is it really.
Others sold are not always the correct width causing the bogie sides to splay out and look most odd. I have used the old type axles that don't need bearings but find that this makes the coach drag, not what is needed at exhibitions.
So I have a set of these, Brynkits new bogie frames.I will build these fof coaches under construction and report back. Not the cheapest but if the measurements are right then its a small price to pay.
