One thing with a large exhibition is that you get to see lots of things you otherwise wouldn't know about.
These will come in useful for the planned Southern Region layout being planned- a long way off yet though.
The etch is very fine as shown in the lower picture with comprehensive instructions enclosed.
I think somewhere I have some upper quadrant signal arms which will adorn these posts.
Whilst on the subject of finding things at large shows, I also got a bottle of solder paint from Squires stand- to me expensive, but in the scheme of things it probably isn't.

Dapol N Gauge Signal video.
I have worked it through a couple of cycles so hopefully all questions will be answered as to its working.
Easily wired- a couple to 16V AC and a push to make switch for working.

Right Away?
Took my life in both hands and drilled the hole for Teignfords' starting signal (Think thats correct).
Dapols finest now graces the area adjacent to the platform ramp and I must say that I think it looks ok.
As I have remarked before, the signal as supplied scales out at 18ft in 3mm scale.
From what I have read this was a standard GWR height for this type of structure.
I will probably recess the base a little before covering with scatter but had better make sure the thing works first-Roll on next Dorset Group meeting!

Signals for Teignford.
The Dapol upper quadrant GWR signals have been mentioned before.
Finding a discounted example at the recent Railex at Taunton made me decide to purchase one to see how it suited the position.
I am a little hesitant because of the mentioned failure of a number of these and don't want to drill a 14mm hole and bed in to find an early demise.
That's not to say that this will happen to this one- just an err on the side of caution.

Dapol N Gauge Signals.
First chance to see one of these as produced by Dapol.
It seems to scale out at about 18ft in height in 3mm-and works by simple flick switch. The lamp even works!
Nigel spent most of the October meeting playing and it seems about right for a 3mm layout- there are plans afoot to add this one to Nigel's layout St Leven which will be at the Poole MRE in November.
At a little over £20 locally, you would be hard pressed to make signals for that !
