Hennock was inspired by my eldest daughter whilst sat on the platform of Staverton Station in Devon.
In an effort to get away from Ready to Run I chose 3mm scale to model this layout having previously exhibited a large Tri-ang TT layout. I hope the ramblings that all to frequently appear will be of use to you no matter what scale!
The track diagram shows a simple passing station with a couple of sidings. All track is PECO Hom-12mm gauge with turnouts operated by the wire in tube method. Control is provided by Gaugemaster HH with feedback.
Locos are mostly whitemetal kits running on etched chassis powered by Mashima 9/16 motors with Branchlines 40:1 gearboxes. Wheels are Markits with the latest 3mm Society products being introduced.
Coaches consist of Society 'B' Sets and coaches from etches by Worsley Works, Brynkits and 3SMR. A vast range of wagons are from the 3mm Society list with Finney and Smith providing the China Clay , Gunpowder and a few etched kits.
Hennock has appeared in Railway Modeller and Model Rail.
Please visit the links to the left - 3mm is the Premier Scale for modellers-

Replacement Cattle Dock

The original Cattle Dock was always a stop gap. After the last exhibition I took the plunge and made this replacement. It has been tailored to fit the existing site and was made with Plastic strip of various sizes. Some new cows were also added to make it that much more 'used'. The next update will be the Farmhouse, always a makeshift building that was quickly made but to me doesn't look right. I hope to make an older building, not so large in height-watch this space.

The other photo shows the delightful Scammel Mechanical Horse and trailer as available from the 3mm Society, sorry the image is a bit fuzzy-I will master this camera one day! A simple white metal kit painted in early BR Blood and Custard, the trailer is modelled with the wheels down and usually it stands in the Cider Factory entrance.

Saturday see's Hennock at Burnam MRE-say hello -there are three 3mm layouts-who said 3mm is dead!

Wimrail April 2009

Pictures taken during the Wimrail Exhibition attended in April 2009.

Two Autocoaches, on the left a Brynkits A29 finished in Maroon. This is a fold up kit supplied complete. The Hawksworth on the left has 3SMR sides and Bogies with Worsley Works ends, chassis and roof

A Brynkits Bedford OB. A cast resin kit, this makes up into a lovely model.

Another view of Hennock station building, signals have been added plus a few more bits of station furniture.

Any comments will be gratefully recieved, no way of knowing who or how many have visited.

New Layout Takes Shape

This is the updated view of my new 3mm scale layout. Using Peco Hom track and points it is a continuous circuit approximately 11ft x 4ft 6ins. As yet without a name but again an ex GWR branch which at some time has been reduced to single track running.

With live frog points, these are operated by slide switches and wire in tube.
