Cattle Dock.

 You may remember my building the cattle dock with help from Adrian Vaughan.
Well, to refresh you ther is a picture to the right of how it looked when first stuck in place after completion.
It did look-well-grey. So out with the dirty paint and after what seemed like an eternity -plus some cows- this is how it turned out.
The bases of the cows will be disguised with some straw (plumbers hemp) so should blend in.
The other thing that needs adding is water troughs-I have the dimensions.

Yeoman Models for 3mm.

 Currently on e-bay are a number of Nathans creations under the Yeomans Models heading.
Shamelessly, and with the best intentions and for no gain of my own I have uploaded images of Nathans products.
Now, I have a few of Yeomans Models products adorning Teignford but, due to my mistrust in Paypal and being unemployed, I have not purchased any of these latest offerings.
If they are as good as the K3 Telephone Box, AA & RAC Boxes, not to mention the post box then I can thoroughly recommend them.
Check out e-bay and purchase them- this may encourage Nathan to do some more.
I understand that he is open to suggestions- so contact him and
express your wishes- If you don't ask you don't get!!!

Settling in nicely!

 Slowly,over the Christmas break, I have started to bed in some of the buildings.
With an aborted try at creating a rough lane in front of the Inn I thought it about time that I tried again.
This time I used the dust that is always present in a bag of real ballast. This means that the tea strainer comes out and the lot is sieved so that the dust is separated from the decent sized chips.
The surface of the lane is given a light brushing of ground colour and given a sprinkling of dust before it dries. The surplus is Hoovered off (This Hoovers name is Henry so not really a real Hoover) after drying. Then a liberal coat of neat Elmers Glue brushed to an even coating. Then cover with more
dust and again when dry Hoover ( No I won't go through it again) the surplus off.
This has left an interesting surface, which, with a bit of weathering will look the part.
By the way- can you spot the Yeoman Models Telephone Box?
The flora is again by Mininatur- I must look for these again as I have tried to replicate them but too fiddly.

Flock, Flock,Flock and more Flock!

The remaining length of the third board has now been covered in Woodland Scenics finest.
The usual method of covering the dried Papir Mache with a liberal coating of Eggshell Emulsion followed by an equally generous covering of flock, then a couple of coats of spray adhesive interspersed with yet more flock.
This builds up a good depth and allows clumps to be formed . Some bushes have been adhered with drops of neat PVA and I am happy with the result.
The fence is loosely placed - this neds a bit of paint before it is finally fixed in place.

Wallpapering almost done.

 The third board is the last to be covered with the lineside scenery. Wit the two bridges in place (must build another bus) and what seemed sheets of card the majority of the area is now covered in papier mache.
At the same time I filled in the cess with very fine chippings and, while the paper was wet, the area flooded with dilute PVA,
With cold damp days ahead according to the forecasters this will probably take a few days to completely dry so it might all be done at the same time. Once dry then out with the eggshell brown paint and this board will start to look like a railway.

Scenery starts in earnest.

The first application of scenery has started on the third board. This isn't to say that the first two are ready- far from it. This small corner is where The Jasmine Inn will be located and it is really a try out of ways that the flock and road surfaces will look before charging headlong into the whole board.
Hopefully it doesn't look too bad to you dear reader- I am quite pleased although there is a lot of flock to be stuck before its finished- I will  have posted some more on Teignford blog in the next day or so.
